BOGOF's Blog

Everybody at the Supermarket has been very busy this week doing something called stocktaking, I’m not really sure what stocktaking is but Mr Brown and Fred seem to think it is very important. They run around all day with electronic counting things getting in everybody’s way, and arguing about things like how many boxes of tinned tomatoes there should be, and why a box marked ‘Rice Pudding’ was full of Cheese & Onion crisps.

I asked Mr Blackbird what stocktaking was all about but he had no idea really, he thought that it might be something to do with money but as neither of us used money or knew why people had it, we decided that it was all a big mystery and to keep out of the way and let them get on with it.

One little piece of interesting news. One morning a couple of days ago I was patrolling the walls that surround the car park when I saw a handbag lying on the ground. It was too heavy for me to lift so I fetched Fred. We called in at the Police station at the start of our delivery round, the Police lady behind the counter looked a bit surprised when Fred told her that I had found the bag.

Later on in the afternoon Fred found me snoozing under Mr Blackbird’s holly tree and said that the lady was so happy to have her handbag back that she had arranged with the local Fish & Chip shop for Fred and myself to have free meals for a month!

Hello everyone. As you can see I have a blog now so I can keep you up-to-date with all the news and exciting things going on in Mr Brown’s Supermarket. Adrian and Hilda said that they would post every now and again, I hope that Hilda will post regularly because as she lives in The Netherlands I don’t see her very often, I don’t know where The Netherlands is but Mr Blackbird told me that to get there I would have to cross a lot of water and as I don’t like water very much I will just have to wait until she visits me.

Now for some Supermarket news. Last month Fred went to visit a friend of his and while he was there he visited a Supermarket and saw a new type of shopping basket, it looks like a normal basket but with a longer handle and 4 wheels so that you can pull it along behind you. Fred said that people who only wanted to buy a few things and didn’t want to push a large trolley around or might have problems carrying a normal basket really liked the new basket.

Fred and Mr Brown had a meeting and in the end he told Fred that he would order a few and see what the customers thought about them. After a week customers started complaining, not because they didn’t like the new basket, but because there were not enough of them! Mr Brown quickly ordered 50 more and everybody was happy.

Now for the BIG news. Fred and myself had just finished lunch (fish and chips of course), I was settling down for a little snooze and Fred was starting to read the newspaper, when Mr Blackbird flew down and said “Follow me BOGOF I have something very important to show you, bring Fred with you.” Fred and myself followed Mr Blackbird round the back of the car park to the tree where he had his nest and after a little bit of climbing we saw Mrs Blackbird proudly sitting on some eggs.
